Alf, a junior porter at the market, is out to win the first prize of £20 presented by Charlie Chaplin to the winner of All-England half-bushel basket championship of the Borough Market Athletic Association's sports at Herne Hill on September 9. This is the seventh successive year in which Charlie Chaplin has given the first prize.
