Caption: Eddy Swan a young amateur parachutist , with his electric parachute gear intends to jump out of the old year into the new year at Broxbourne Aerodrome . It will be only the third time that a night parachute descent has been made deliberately in Britain . It will also be the first test of a novel lighting device which it is hoped will make descents in the darkness as safe as those in daylight . Mr Swan will wear a flying suit to which are affixed a number of electric lamps . These are intended to guide the parachutist to a safe landing . He will make his leap into space at 11. 58 pm and try to land in the centre of the aerodrome during the first one or two minutes of 1934 . Mr Swan is to make an attempt on world ' s record night parachute jump .
