Caption: The chimps washing though!.

Peter hangs out the clothes.

When Peter and Jackie, the London zoo chimpanzees, heard that their keeper was about to go on holiday, they apparently decided to do his washing for him, and may be cut down his laundry bill. Anyway, a washed-up and scrubbing board were ready to hand, together with plenty of 'material'in the form of socks and shirts, and the monkey house laundry was soon in full operation!.

Photo shows, Peter (left) hangs out the washing to dry and the job is done at last.

Jackie can be seen carefully ring out one of the garments.
